​Matt Carlyon (Car-lion)
​is a spoken word artist and musician in the Twin Cities. Matt currently works as a GRIP Specialist at the Neighborhood House with youth on Probation. He has worked professionally with such artists as Khary "6 is 9" Jackson, Brian "Omni" Dilan, Sierra DeMulder, Michael Lee, Niel Hilborn, Guante, Hieu Nguyen, and St.Paul Slim. Matt has been on several different national stages for poetry, inc...luding representing Minnesota's youth poetry scene at Brave New Voices as well as competing at the CUPSI in 2011 with the University of Minnesota, which placed 4th in the nation. In 2013 Matt helped found MCTC’s first Slam Poetry Team, which was the highest scoring Minnesota college team in the competiton. Matt has a chapbook "Out of Context" and is working on 2 more: one about Spongebob and one about his work with youth.
