Get Involved

It is people like you who make a community!  There are many ways for you to get involved in Southeast Community Organization (SECO) and the District 1 community.
  1. A great way to start is by attending SECO /community events.
  2. If you want to get a little more involved - try volunteering at events.
  3. If you want to step it up even more - try attending the committee or board meetings - or even better yet join a committee or the board.

If you don't have time for that but want to help and be a part of the community - Fill out our Community Survey. To help center our programming and learn from neighbors about what's most important, we're asking folks who live, work, or study in District 1 about what's going well and and what needs improvement.

If you are ready to volunteer - scroll down to the end and fill out our volunteer form!

Land Use Committee

The Land Use Committee oversees land use and zoning issues in the district. It has the authority to determine the organization's position on issues. This might include new developments that are proposed for the area, lot splits, variance requests on projects, and transportation.

Transportation

One of the projects we've been interacting with is the planning and construction of the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

Zoning & Uses

When projects are suggested or questioned often times neighbors and business come to us for prior approval and questions on zoning.

Housing Committee

The Southeast Community Organization hosts bi-monthly Housing Forums, where we discuss issues that matter and share resources that are needed. Housing Forums are for all; home owners, renters, property managers, even developers. Everyone's voice matters when it comes to housing and new developments within our community.

At SECO we value Trust, Respect, Equity, Justice, and Power. We stand in Solidarity with our community and thrive to be a conduit for information sharing. We would love for you to join us in person at any of our bi monthly Housing Forums. We begin with a light dinner, then we transition into community discussions. Based on community survey feedback we bring in one or two presenters to share resources and we hold space for a Q & A on their presentation. We end the night with a quick feedback survey to help us prepare for our next Housing Forum and a raffle for a chance to win one of three $50 visa gift cards.

Your voice matters; we can't identify needed supports without you. Sign up to receive our newsletters and stay in the loop on all of our SECO committees. If you're interested in getting involved with SECO or you're just curious to see what SECO is about, stop by and check us out! We'd love for you to join our board.
