New Recycling System still working out kinks...

1/23/2017

Maybe you are like me -- the first week of the new recycling system with its covered carts didn't go as smoothly as we would like -- mine didn't get picked up.

I have my cart filled with all the stuff to recycle and it is still sitting in my alley waiting for its maiden voyage into the recycling stream via the new trucks...

So it is a totally new system - new location for pick ups for a huge number of households, carts at EVERY household, new recycling days for most of the City, and new trucks and routes for the drivers. When you think about how much is changing, it is really no wonder that we have run into a lot of glitches.

But the City and Eureka are working those glitches out. I am hopeful that THIS week, my recycling will get picked up (if it doesn't, my cart will be overflowing!!). So let us know how things are improving this week, or if you still see problems.

But keep in mind that this system SHOULD increase what gets picked up to recycle, lowering the amount of stuff that gets sent to the garbage burners and to the landfill, creating jobs for people (good-paying jobs!), and lowering emissions and other pollutants in our environment. Better health for all of us.

We just need to hang in there as all these glitches get worked out... Patience...
