The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Twin Cities effective from 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 until 7 p.m. Friday, July 22. During this time, hot and humid conditions are expected and Saint Paul is expanding hours at recreation centers throughout the city to provide a safe place for residents to cool off. Public libraries can also be used as cooling areas. For more tips and locations for staying cool in the capital city, the public can visit stpaul.gov.
Expanded hours and information at rec centers and splash pads
All Saint Paul recreation centers will have expanded hours Wednesday - Friday with each opening by 10 a.m. and staying open until at least 8 p.m. Several centers will extend operating hours until10 p.m. Drinking fountains or water coolers will be provided at all centers and sprinklers will be used for cooling at centers without air conditioning. Recreation center programming will be monitored and adjusted or canceled as needed. Participants will be notified by recreation center staff if cancellations or modifications are necessary.
Como Regional Park Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center are open for regular open swim hours (noon- 8 p.m) and splash pad hours have been extended to 9 p.m. at all locations.
Additional updates will be provided on the City of Saint Paul website and social channels.
