As most of your know, the creation of the new logo and name was a long, long process with many years of discussion. The new logo incorporates the beautiful natural environment of our community. We will continue to update the look of our materials and website for the new few months. Movie Night: Viewing and Discussion Jim Crow of the North Jim Crow of the North is a documentary that charts the progression of racist policies and practices from the start of restrictive covenants after the turn of the last century to their elimination in the late 1960s. >> Hear from documentary creator Daniel Bergin and Kirstin Delegard from Mapping Prejudice.  Why is this important? When we examine our shared histories, including racist practices, we deepen our knowledge about how the decisions of earlier generations created the communities we live in today. St. Paul's Proposed Renter's Rights Have you been asked to leave your apartment without enough time to find a new home? Has your lease not been renewed and you don't know why? Has information on your past legal record stopped you from getting an apartment? How do you know what your rights are as a renter? Learn more about city discussions on what might be done to protect you as a renter. Bring your questions, and find out what you can do to advocate for change. Do you care about your neighbors? Would you like to make our community better for all who live here? >> We have openings for for seven board members at upcoming elections in March of 2020. Terms are for two years. Board members help decide on organizational projects, monitor the budget and participate in programs and activities. Members can be age 16 and up, and can include renters, homeowners, students, business owners or individuals representing local organizations or faith groups. Got questions? The Census: Everyone Counts Minnesota could be at risk of losing one of our U.S. Representatives. Our national representatives advocate for us in Washington. We have eight, and this may be reduced to seven if we don't make sure that everyone completes the census. An inaccurate count will affect our representation and federal funding. By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. When it arrives, respond in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Please speak with family, friends and neighbors and remind them all to fill out their census. If you need information to share with others or want to help us spread the word, please contact our office. Census takers are also desperately needed. Follow this link to apply.
