Vote!

This is the final stretch to weigh in on our new name. Deadline December 31. We technically won't close the page until January 2, so you have an extra day to vote!
Resolutions?

We're looking forward to a great new year at District 1. Very soon, we'll have our new name and a new look! What else are we hoping for this year?

1. The continued pursuit of racial equity in our district. All voices should be represented in decision-making through our boards, committees and neighborhood feedback.
2. We will continue to seek ways to help young people learn the importance of community engagement, governance and advocacy.
3. We commit to ensuring that decisions made about D1 business and transportation issues help create safe neighborhoods, and reflect our values and community plans.
4. We will continue to advocate for the health of our water and environment; understanding the importance of these precious and valuable assets.

Please join us as we work to make our community even better. We welcome you to join us at our meetings and events, serve as a volunteer, or join our board or a committee. Let's make District 1 the community you want it to be!

A Quote for the New Year...

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
