Monday, April 23, 2018

Meeting Minutes



Present:  Paul Sawyer, Stella Alcantara, Amina Samatar, Aisha Mohamud, Hafsa Mohamud, Bonnie Watkins, Jamillah Shabazz, Patty McDonald, Melissa Wenzel, Matthew Barrett, Tony Parish, Lee Vue, Chai Lee, and Timothy Turner
Absent: Excused Member - Phil Fuehrer
Staff Present:  Betsy Mowry Voss, Chia Lor, Shaquanna Jackson
Called to Order: 6:45 pm by Council President Paul Sawyer
Board Business:
Introductions
Each board member introduced themselves to the newly formed board.
 
Nominations for Board Officers – Facilitated by Paul Sawyer. 
Nominations for President were opened.  Stella Alcantara and Patty McDonald were nominated.
  • Election was conducted by ballot and the results were counted by staff, Betsy Mowry Voss and Chia Lor.  Stella Alcantara was elected President.
Nominations for Vice President were opened.  Tony Parrish was nominated.
  • Motion by Paul Sawyer, Seconded by Matt Barrett to approve.
  • Approved on Voice Vote.  None opposed.
 
Stella Alcantara and Tony Parish vacated their previous positions of Secretary and Treasurer. Nominations for these positions were taken, then voted upon by the board by voice vote.

  • Secretary - Matthew Barrett
    • Motion by Paul Sawyer, Seconded by Timothy Turner to approve.
    • Approved on Voice Vote.  None opposed.
  • Treasurer – Bonnie Watkins
  • Moved by Paul Sawyer, Seconded by Tony Parrish to approve.
  • Approved on Voice Vote.  None opposed.

 
Board Orientation - Presented by Paul Sawyer: Non-Profits 101
Discussed. Questions asked and answered.
 
Committee Assignments – Presented by Stella Alcantara
Assignments were announced for Land Use, Communication/Outreach and Safety (CoSCO), Finance, and Youth.  Discussed. Questions asked and answered. New board members decided to attend each committee meeting, before deciding which one to join.

  • Voice approved by all, None opposed

Seconded by Tony Parish
All voiced approval.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm
