Board MembersOur district council holds annual elections in April (changed from our previous elections annually held in March), and we are always looking for committed individuals who work and/or live in our area to serve the community through our board. We welcome anyone ages 16 and up, including renters, students, home owners and local business owners. Southeast Community Organization works to have representation from all races, ethnicity, genders and ages. The board of directors of the Southeast Community Organization is responsible for all activities of the organization. The board sets goals, determines organizational policies that guide staff implementation of goals, provides financial oversight and approves and monitors the annual budget. Our council expects its board to reflect the varied backgrounds and interests of its constituents.

We have 3 formal committees, with 2 of them open to the public. Join our Land Use Committee or Communications Committee! Joining our committees as a community representative is one way to have an impact in your neighborhood. Contact us for information on how to participate.
- Executive Committee:
The Executive Committee oversees the financial health, personnel and general governance of the Council. The Council is funded through contracts with the City of St. Paul. We also seek grants from foundations for special projects, and donations from area residents. The Executive Committee ensures that the council spends its money wisely, meets the funding requirements of our contracts and our donors, deals fairly with our personnel, and obeys legal requirements of 501(c)3 charitable organizations. - Land Use Committee:
The Land Use Committee oversees land use and zoning issues in the district. It has the authority to determine the organization's position on issues. This might include new developments that are proposed for the area, lot splits, variance requests on projects, and transportation. - Communications Committee:
The Communication Committee assists with outreach and safety in our district.This committee addresses ways we share information between the city, county and our residents. They are also involved in planning events and including all members of our community in our work. Our safety efforts focus is on helping build connections among neighbors as a crime prevention approach.
